P\ufeffERTH:<\/strong> She won't be lifting the Perth Sevens trophy but Brazil's Raquel Kochhann is already the biggest winner, and best story, from the tournament.<\/p>\n

The 31-year-old had a mile wide smile as she returned to the world series at HBF Park following a two \ufeffyear absence.<\/p>\n

The two time Olympian had been recovering from a serious knee injury when she got the devastating news of being diagnosed with breast cancer.<\/p>\n

Bravely, she kept training with her beloved national team throughout chemotherapy and after a rollercoaster journey the cancer is now dormant and she is back on the park.<\/p>\n

"It's really exciting to be here again," Kochhann told reporters.<\/p>\n

"It was a big fight and a long time. Two years on and now to be here again with my teammates, enjoying every game, every moment – it's incredible. It's hard to explain in words."<\/p>\n

Kochhann said she used the lure of returning to the rugby field as motivation throughout her cancer battle.<\/p>\n

There were difficult conversations with doctors but the desire never faded.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Since I was a little children, my dream every time was wearing the yellow jersey," she explained.<\/p>\n

\"Raquel<\/p>\n

"So every time that I can't use (the jersey), I fight back to use again.<\/p>\n

"So every little step was a big commemoration… I had a lot of people supporting me so the feeling was I need to do my best and I can do my best for not just me but for everyone that are supporting me and are watching and looking for 'who is Raquel Kochhann, who is back on the circuit'."<\/p>\n

Kochhann\ufeff, who still receives regular treatment to keep the cancer at bay, kicked two important conversions in Brazil's 21-17 win over Japan in the ninth place semi-final on Saturday.<\/p>\n

She crossed her heart and pointed to the sky after the fulltime whistle.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Kochhann\ufeff, who wears the No.10 Brazil shirt that is iconic in football, told Wide World of Sports that she hoped to be an inspiration to others facing adversity.<\/p>\n

"Yes, this is good because I think everyone that has some dream or wants something and fight for that – this is possible," she said.<\/p>\n
