Former world No.5 Daniela Hantuchova anticipated Jannik Sinner<\/a>'s comprehensive win over Novak Djokovic<\/a> which sent the 10-time champion packing on Friday.<\/p>\n

With the 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-3 result<\/a>, Sinner has now defeated Djokovic in three of their last four meetings after previous wins in last year's Davis Cup semi final and in the ATP Finals.<\/p>\n

"I think we all saw it coming given how well Jannik played against Novak the last couple of times. He was so close," Hantuchova told Stan Sport's Grand Slam Daily<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"The way he played the first two sets, \ufeffyou could even see Novak not being as frustrated because he understood how well Jannik was playing and there wasn't really much he could do."<\/p>\n

While Djokovic snatched the third set, it was not enough to swing the momentum away from the young Italian.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffIt's Novak, so he will find ways no matter how well his opponent is playing to somehow get back into the match. But this time, Jannik already had the belief that he had what it takes to get through Novak," Hantuchova said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffAnd I believe he's got what it takes now to go all the way.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffNow that he's done the hard work \u2014 not that the final against Daniil won't be any easier \u2014 but I feel like he's telling himself, 'OK, I managed to get through Novak, now c'mon, one more to go'."<\/p>\n

However,\ufeff despite his earliest exit from the Australian Open<\/a> in five years, Hantuchova expected the world No.1 to come back even stronger by bouncing back at the next grand slam on the calendar \u2014 Roland-Garros.<\/p>\n

"He was playing great tennis throughout the entire tournament so for Novak, I think he's going to go back and train even harder, and be ready for Roland-Garros," she said.<\/p>\n

"I mean, that's what he has done over the years, and if anything, I think there he's going to have even more of a chance because the [hard] courts are super quick.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffFor Jannik's serve, [the hard courts in Australia] were ideal but at Roland-Garros [Djokovic] is going to have more time to prepare the point and stay in the rallies longer.<\/p>\n

"Yes, \ufeff[the clay courts] are a little more physical in the way that he has to hit with extra power with his upper body, but he's ready to do that and so I fancy his chances at Roland-Garros even more."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
