T\ufeffhe Gabba<\/a> was put into lockdown on day two of the second Test between Australia and West Indies<\/a> with protesters converging on the ground.<\/p>\n

Due to the security breach, cricket fans were not allowed in the Gabba for a period of time. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Reports suggest members of the protest group entered the ground with broadcasters asked to leave the playing surface.<\/p>\n

Speaking on SEN, Cricket Australia<\/a> chief executive officer Nick Hockley was satisfied with the work of security \ufeffwith the lockdown ending after 10 minutes and play starting on time.<\/p>\n

"The security staff and the police did a fantastic job," he said. <\/p>\n

"That has been appropriately handled."<\/p>\n

Despite the protest being stopped, an individual managed to enter the field of play displaying an Aboriginal flag.<\/p>\n

Security then managed to escort him off the ground.<\/p>\n

Queensland Police had confirmed after the event that 20 protesters blocked off entrances at the Gabba.<\/p>\n

Reports also suggest a large number of individuals converged outside the ground, chanting messages opposing Australia Day.<\/p>\n

The protests come after Cricket Australia decided not to acknowledge the pink ball Test as an Australia Day match but ended up backflipping on the decision.<\/p>\n

Australian captain Pat Cummins<\/a> had pledged his hope for a new date in the leadup to the match.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"My personal opinion is I absolutely love Australia, I think it's the best country in the world by a mile and I think we should have an Australia Day but I think we can probably find a more appropriate day to celebrate it," he said.<\/p>\n
