West Indies<\/a> debutant Kevin Sinclair was highly emotional when legendary former cricketer Carl Hooper<\/a> presented him with his first Test cap, and the 24-year-old learnt a brutal lesson late on day one<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sinclair replaced Gudakesh Motie\ufeff in the side and entered the match at 6-213 when Joshua Da Silva departed for 79.<\/p>\n

His first run brought about a grateful look into the sky but there could be regret over his act in the final over.<\/p>\n

The third ball of Josh Hazlewood<\/a>'s over was pushed to short leg by his teammate Alzarri Joseph\ufeff who immediately pushed off for a single.<\/p>\n

Sinclair was quick to deny the run, yelling no at least eight times.<\/p>\n

"He actually had the stop sign up," former Australian captain Ricky Ponting said on Seven.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI don't like saying it, for the West Indies' sake, but normally this game has a way of making things like that come unstuck."<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for the debutant, that came to fruition when Joseph edged a Hazlewood delivery to Steve Smith at second slip, ending the day's play.<\/p>\n

The look of frustration from Joseph was obvious with West Indies legend Brian Lara noticing a hint of dismay towards his teammate. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"J\ufeffoseph did look a little disappointed," he said on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

"He did look back at Sinclair because he felt it was a single the ball before."<\/p>\n
