Australia's World Cup<\/a>-winning men's cricket team has been bizarrely snubbed in the ICC's team of the year.<\/p>\n

Only two players from that all-conquering side were included in the 2023 men's ODI<\/a> \ufeffteam of the year for 2023, released on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

The Aussies lost their first two matches at the World Cup before going on a nine-win run and beating tournament hosts India in the final by six wickets.<\/p>\n

But India has been gifted six positions in the ICC's team of the year despite being roundly walloped by Australia in the deciding fixture.<\/p>\n

Middle-order batter Travis Head and leg spinner Adam Zampa are the only Aussies in the ODI team, with captain Pat Cummins and Glenn Maxwell – who hit an astonishing double century during the World Cup – notable absentees.<\/p>\n

\ufeffWide World of Sports does acknowledge the ICC's team of the year encompasses all ODIs across 2023, not just the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Australia fared much better in the women's teams of the year, as well as the men's Test team of the year.<\/p>\n

\ufeffUsman Khawaja, Head, Alex Carey, Cummins, and Mitchell Starc all made the Test team for a year in which Australia won the World Test Championship final and drew an Ashes series in England.<\/p>\n

Five Aussie women feature in the ODI team of the year, while \ufefffour made the T20 women's team.<\/p>\n
