U\ufeffsman Khawaja<\/a> has been passed fit by Cricket Australia<\/a>'s medical team to play the final Test of the summer in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

The veteran opening batter was struck in the head by a West Indies bouncer during Friday's short run chase<\/a> in Adelaide.<\/p>\n

They were somewhat distressing scenes as Khawaja spat blood from his mouth as he was forced to retire hurt.<\/p>\n

He was considered in serious doubt for the Gabba match, starting Thursday, but on Monday was cleared of lingering concussion symptoms.<\/p>\n

He looks certain to now walk to the crease alongside new opening partner Steve Smith again in Brisbane.<\/p>\n

Doubt does, though, remain over gun No.5 batter Travis Head\ufeff after he tested positive for COVID-19 at the weekend.<\/p>\n

Head tested positive after starring in Australia's win over the Windies, named man of the match for a blistering first-innings century.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHead will reportedly fly to Brisbane on Tuesday and remain away from other squad members if he's still positive.<\/p>\n

If he still tests positive on Thursday he will be able to play the match under COVID-19 protocols.<\/p>\n

They include him being unable to sit with or celebrate with teammates during the match, as happened with Matthew Renshaw in Sydney last summer.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Ironically if Head opts to sit out the match it is likely Renshaw who will be called in to replace him.<\/p>\n
