Aussie tennis<\/a> great Todd Woodbridge<\/a> had a playful dig at Alex de Minaur<\/a> amid speculation 'The Demon' may be engaged.<\/p>\n

Images of de Minaur's partner – and English tennis star – Katie Boulter during Sunday night's match<\/a> sparked the rumours given she had a ring on her wedding finger.<\/p>\n

The pair have been dating for about four years, and Boulter has been supporting from de Minaur's players' box \ufeffduring the Australian Open.<\/p>\n

She was pictured consoling de Minaur following his fourth-round loss to Andrey Rublev<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But while many were quick to assume de Minaur had popped the question, Woodbridge isn't convinced the ring is an engagement one – and says if it is, de Minaur must have done it cheaply.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI'll tell you what – Alex has been playing incredible tennis, he's top-10 in the world… I went in close to have a look at the ring and I said 'you know what? You can do better than that, Alex'," Woodbridge quipped on Nine's Today<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffAn engagement ring? Surely we're looking at four or five carats, not a couple of chips."<\/p>\n

De Minaur banked a cool $375,000 for making the fourth round of his home slam\ufeff, and has pocketed more than $17 million in prize money from his career to date.<\/p>\n

Today\ufeff<\/em> host Karl Stefanovic pondered, "What you're saying is that he's cheap?".<\/p>\n

Woodbridge then made the show hosts crack up with his response.<\/p>\n
