A\ufeffnna Kalinskaya is through to the fourth round of the Australian Open<\/a>, coming back from a set down to cause an upset against 2017 US Open champion Sloane Stephens<\/a> on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Russian fell short in a first set tie-breaker, but managed to outclass the American \ufeffin the second to square proceedings and force a deciding set.<\/p>\n

After breaking Stephens late in the contest, the Russian star \ufeffwould serve for the match and make no mistake, securing a 6-7 (8), 6-1, 6-4 victory, which will now set up a fresh piece of history in the semis.<\/p>\n

The clash wasn't without some controversy however, with Stephens embroiled in an argument with the chair umpire in the second set.<\/p>\n

The former US Open winner was called out by the official over her lengthy sit down between games, which included her eating sushi courtside, as captured by the Nine broadcast. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Stephens lashed out at the umpire briefly before regaining her composure, but ultimately lost the second set – and the match – to end her hopes of an Australian Open title. \ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe former world No.3 has struggled at Melbourne Park in recent years, with her best finish – a semi-final defeat – coming over a decade ago.<\/p>\n

As for her Russian opponent, it's the first time Kalinskaya has made it to the fourth round of any grand slam, with her opponent for Monday still to be confirmed. \ufeff<\/p>\n
