\ufeffEmma Raducanu<\/a> is prepared to compete in International Tennis<\/a> Federation events, a tier below the WTA level, in order to find herself on the court, following her second-round straight-sets Australian Open<\/a> defeat after battling illness.<\/p>\n

It's been an uphill battle for for the British player since she burst onto the scene at the 2021 US Open, with injuries, a lack of direction with her coaching staff and poor form hindering her progress.<\/p>\n

Raducanu is now ranked \ufeff296th in the WTA rankings after her loss to Wang Yafan, with her lengthy injury-enforced absence from the tour in 2023 leaving the former world No.4 in a precarious spot.<\/p>\n

While she has a\ufeff protected ranking of 103 to use for a certain number of entries in WTA events, her current ranking is not high enough to gain direct entry to play in WTA tour events.<\/p>\n

She received an automatic spot in the draw from organisers in Melbourne due to other players pulling out but now realises she must compete at the lower levels to force her way back into WTA events.<\/p>\n

"I really believe that the difference in level between the quote 'lower-level tournaments' and these tournaments is not that big," Raducanu said in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

"Because you gain so many skills, you're playing in these conditions. The wind here was a prime example.<\/p>\n

"My opponent [Wang] played a lot of ITF and got a lot of matches under her belt, but the level really isn't that different.<\/p>\n

"So yeah, I would play whatever suits my schedule, whatever suits the plan."<\/p>\n

That plan includes\ufeff playing on a wild card at the Abu Dhabi Open in February and then utilising her protected ranking to play at Indian Wells and the Miami Open.<\/p>\n

The former Flushing Meadows champion also declared interest in gaining confidence in the lower tiers before heading off to the US.<\/p>\n

Raducanu teamed up with Nick Cavaday, her childhood coach, ahead of the Australian Open. She split with Cavaday shortly after he career-defining win in New York, working with other coaches before going a period without a mentor.<\/p>\n

"We're going to go back and keep working together," Raducanu said.<\/p>\n
