Undefeated boxer T\ufeffim Tszyu<\/a> could be in line for his toughest challenge to date, with the world's best pound-for-pound fighter Terence Crawford<\/a> eyeing off a shot against the Australian.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old kept his perfect record in tact last October, defeating Brian Mendoza on the Gold Coast<\/a>, but is now on the hunt for the next challenger for his WBO super-welterweight title.<\/p>\n

Tszyu (24-0) had been hopeful of securing a title defence in Las Vegas alongside the NRL's season launch in early-March, \ufeffbut those plans have ultimately fallen by the wayside.<\/p>\n

Jermell Charlo<\/a> and Vergil Ortiz Jr.<\/a> have been touted as potential opponents for the Sydney-born star, but in a surprise development on Saturday, it now appears that Crawford (40-0) has his eyes set on a showdown with Tszyu.<\/p>\n

"This guy, Tszyu, is coming off a big win, beating Mendoza," Crawford's trainer Bernie Davis told Mill City Boxing.<\/p>\n

"Tszyu has got the country behind him and has been looking good technically. He's been looking better every fight – and he's got the belt. I think that would be [an ideal fight].<\/p>\n

"We want to move up and still make history and still have something to get up for. Even though Boots [Jaron Ennis] is an attractive option, I think Tszyu is edging him just a little bit.<\/p>\n

"Tszyu has fought the better competition, and I think he's been looking spectacular in his fights and he has the country behind.<\/p>\n

"It's another weight class to jump, and it's another thing to aspire to. That's where I think that we'll land, but the options are open."<\/p>\n

Davis also shut down the idea of Crawford jumping divisions to take on Teofimo Lopez or Devin Haney, with the likelihood of moving from welterweight to super-welterweight to face Tszyu the more enticing option.<\/p>\n

Tszyu reacted positively to a social media post from ESPN on Saturday morning regarding a potential fight with Crawford, with his promoters No Limit Boxing pushing the idea forward.<\/p>\n

The American has cemented himself as the most dominant fighter on the planet in recent years, capturing world titles in multiple weight divisions, and would undoubtedly present the biggest obstacle for the second-generation star in Tszyu.\ufeff<\/p>\n
