\ufeffJohn Millman<\/a> has revealed his strange retirement plans now that his professional tennis career has come to an end, after bowing out of the Australian Open<\/a> men's doubles on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The Australian cult hero, aptly nicknamed "Millmania", played his last match with doubles partner Ed Winter on Friday night, going out in straight sets to mate Matt Ebden and India's Rohan Bopanna<\/a> (6-2, 6-4).<\/p>\n

\ufeffMillman failed to qualify for the 2024 Australian Open men's singles, but managed to reach the second round of the doubles tournament.<\/p>\n

Despite not reaching a fairytale ending to his professional career which began in 2010, Millman says he's already got a plan to navigate the retired life.<\/p>\n

"I'm back home (in Brisbane) studying, actually," Millman said post-match on Nine.<\/p>\n

"I'll be in class pretty soon. That's a bit of a shock to the system."<\/p>\n

As for his final moments on court as a professional, Millman says he leaves with no regrets.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I'm happy. I'm content. \ufeffI'm actually pretty proud that a lot of people stuck around," Millman said.<\/p>\n

"The high\ufefflight of my career was when I got to represent the country and I got to represent it with Matty Ebden. We grew up together.<\/p>\n

\"Australian<\/p>\n

"(The highlight) \ufeffprobably (was) not the Roger (Federer) one (win at US Open in 2018)."<\/p>\n

The veteran went on to thank those who were along for the ride.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I always tried \ufeff… to represent the people that put me there. All the way back home with mum, dad, my sisters," he said.<\/p>\n

"I was never the\ufeff most talented, but I gave it a crack."<\/p>\n

In true Millman fashion, he was quick to turn the spotlight off himself and urge fellow Australians to continue to support the next generation\ufeff, including his doubles partner, 19-year-old Winter.<\/p>\n

"I'm proud of Eddie (Winter), it's a sign of welcoming the next generation through and Eddie's definitely part of that," Millman said.<\/p>\n

"I encourage you over the next few years, let's get behind our young Australians\ufeff like Eddie. Just show all these Australians your love and support, the love and support you gave me throughout my career."<\/p>\n

To finish his lap of honour, Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley presented Millman with a thanks for his contribution to the game.<\/p>\n

"You are the ultimate team player\ufeff," Tiley said.<\/p>\n

"A true gentleman and champion of the game."<\/p>\n
