Hammering down slopes and\ufeff pulling off spectacular mid-air tricks, Australian Olympic champion Jakara Anthony<\/a> has inspired moguls young guns dreaming of following her path.<\/p>\n

Jindabyne's Lottie Lodge and Melbourne's Edward Hill are among a 47-strong Australian team set to compete at the Winter Youth Olympic Games<\/a>, taking place in the South Korean province of Gangwon from Friday.<\/p>\n

Lodge idolises Anthony, who won gold in the women's moguls at Beijing 2022, as well as former Australian star Britt Cox, a moguls world champion.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffWhen I was younger I just thought they were really cool, but now that I train alongside Jakara I've come to learn how dedicated they both are and how much hard work they put into the sport," Lodge, 17, told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"So they inspire me to train really hard and give it all I've got … It's cool to see how they train and you can learn from them. They're super inspiring."<\/p>\n

Anthony laid the foundation of her decorated skiing career on the slopes of Victoria's Mount Buller, where she trained and competed as a kid.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe freestyle skier has been in scintillating form during the northern hemisphere winter, winning gold medals at the Ruka, Idre Fjall, Alpe d'Huez and Bakuriani World Cup meets. The 25-year-old is undefeated in singles moguls this season.<\/p>\n

Hill, who also learned to ski at Mount Buller, has looked up to Anthony for many years.<\/p>\n

"She used to train with my sister, so I've known her for a while and watched her train and compete when she was young," the 17-year-old told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"It's pretty cool how she's come from Australia, which doesn't have many mountains and not as much snow as places like America, and she's dominating the sport."<\/p>\n

Lodge's best trick is the back mute and her\ufeff favourite skiing location is Ruka, Finland.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I love that moguls takes you all around the world," Lodge said.<\/p>\n

"We get to do a lot of travelling. It's really cool that we get to go and see new places and try new courses all the time."<\/p>\n

Hill's top trick is the cork seven and he loves skiing in Utah.<\/p>\n

Former Australian moguls skier Nicole Parks,\ufeff who competed at Sochi 2014, coaches Lodge and Hill under the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) program.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI am super proud [of Lodge and Hill]," Parks told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"I think these two work super hard. The whole team do, but especially these two, and I'm excited to see what they can do over there [in Gangwon]. Hopefully all that hard work will show."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
