Newport Beach Police Department in California is no longer pursuing a criminal case against Australia basketball<\/a> star Josh Giddey<\/a> and will not lay charges.<\/p>\n

Roughly six weeks after\ufeff an investigation was launched by detectives into the claims that emerged on social media<\/a>, authorities were "unable to corroborate any criminal activity" to prove an accusation that the Oklahoma City Thunder guard had an improper relationship with an underage girl.<\/p>\n

Giddey continued to play for the Thunder throughout, while facing continuous booing from hostile crowds around the NBA.<\/p>\n

The department said in a news release that it had completed "a thorough and exhaustive examination."<\/p>\n

It was revealed last month that Giddey was 19 at the time of the alleged encounter and believed the girl was also 19.<\/p>\n
