Stefanos Tsitsipas<\/a> has playfully thrown shade at a "selfish" Novak Djokovic<\/a>, after the world No.7 advanced to the third round of the Australian Open on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

The Greek survived a genuine scare from Australian hopeful Jordan Thompson<\/a>, taking a 4-6, 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4)\ufeff win on Margaret Court Arena.<\/p>\n

But it wasn't the win that Tsitsipas had his eyes on, instead turning his attention to world No.1 Novak Djokovic, who he may need to overcome in his chase for a maiden Australian Open title.<\/p>\n

"It's one of the two scenarios, I think numbers don't lie, Novak (Djokovic) has been able to win here 12 times, he's a very selfish person," Tsitsipas joked post match with Nine's Jim Courier.<\/p>\n

"If he just manages to wake up one day … feeling less selfish, sharing is caring type of vibe.<\/p>\n

"Whether someone needs to beat Novak, that is not me, or it has to be me\ufeff, we'll have to find a way either way."<\/p>\n

Djokovic, the defending champion, did in advanced to the third round by defeating Australian Alexei Popyrin in a four-set thriller<\/a> at Rod Laver Arena on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBut the world No.7 declared he was ready for the challenge that likely lay ahead.<\/p>\n

"There's no secret … I come with a lot of energy, a lot of determination," he told Jim Courier on Nine's post-match coverage.<\/p>\n

"I know I am capable of pulling off certain things and having a deep run at the Aussie Open.<\/p>\n

"It's one of my favourite tournaments; I used to skip school to actually watch it."<\/p>\n
