Australian<\/a> qualifier Storm Hunter has continued her dream run<\/a> at the Australian Open<\/a> after taking down German \ufeffLaura Siegemund in front of a packed crowd at John Cain Arena.<\/p>\n

It is the first time in Hunter's career that she's advanced past the second round of a grand slam tournament and both she and her coach Nicole Pratt were overwhelmed by the emotion of the victory.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The world's top ranked women's doubles player took just over two hours to secure her spot in the third round, winning \ufeff6-4, 3-6, 6-3.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old fought back tears after the win, thanking her family, partner and coach, Nicole Pratt, who wiped away a tear from her position in the coach's box.<\/p>\n

"I'm going to cry now, but yeah, they've all been here," Hunter told Jelena Dokic.<\/p>\n

"My parents since I was young always supported my dream. My husband, we've been together for 10 years and he's seen everything, even with me injured and not playing.<\/p>\n

"Pratty was the one that believed in me from the beginning and she's always backed me. To do this for her as well is amazing. She's always been in my corner, no matter what.<\/p>\n

"I'm so lucky. She's definitely the best coach on tour so I'm lucky to have her in my corner.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Hunter has now won five matches in a row at Melbourne after fighting through a week of qualifying to reach the women's main draw.<\/p>\n

The second round match itself was \ufefffar from conventional, with 13 breaks of serve from the 28 games played.<\/p>\n

Courtside commentator Sam Stosur described the match as difficult following consecutive breaks.<\/p>\n

"There were obviously lots of breaks. It was very unsettled tennis, not much rhythm," the grand slam champion said on Nine's coverage following the first set.<\/p>\n

Siegemund almost doubled Hunter's number of unforced errors in the match, committing 53.<\/p>\n

However, the German hit an impressive 29 winners, compared to Hunter's 11.<\/p>\n

Speaking after win, the Australian revealed she wouldn't have been able to secure the win without being cheered on by the rowdy crowd of adoring fans.<\/p>\n

"I got over the line because of the crowd," she said.<\/p>\n

"You guys are amazing. You really pulled me through.<\/p>\n

"I'm just riding the high right now. You've got to enjoy this."<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old has also made it into the second round in the women's doubles competition with her Czech partner Katerina Siniakova.<\/p>\n
