C\ufeffoco Gauff<\/a> clearly wasn't a fan of Nickelodeon's "The Wild Thornberrys" growing up, hitting out at a cartoon image of American players in the style of the kids' TV show.<\/p>\n

In a since-deleted social media post, Gauff criticised a caricature of \ufeffherself that was used as promotional material by the USTA, labelling it as "hideous" and "foul".<\/p>\n

Jessica Pegula, Sebastian Korda, Emma Navarro, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and Tommy Paul all featured in the cartoon too.<\/p>\n

"Worst thing I've ever seen," she wrote in an Instagram story.<\/p>\n

"Like a caricature artist decided to make (us) all look like hideous looking people. The art style is cool for a cartoon show but not for a hype post. Foul."<\/p>\n

Gauff later Tweeted before deleting, "Y'all I know it is a cartoon show but I think I would prefer to be drawn as a Bratz art style and not this. This is makes us all look so ugly."<\/p>\n

Compatriot Pegula took some amusement from the cartoon posting, "Hahahahhaha we are ugly af."<\/p>\n

Gauff comes to the Australian Open in the midst of a purple patch.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old won her first grand slam in 2023 when she took out her home event, the US Open.<\/p>\n

Gauff arrived in Melbourne as the fourth seed behind Iga Switak, Aryna Sabalenka, and Elina Rybakina.<\/p>\n

Gauff faces Anna Karolina Schmiedlova of Slovakia in her first round. A win over Schmiedlova will set up a contest with Carolina Dolehide.<\/p>\n
