Daniil Medvedev<\/a> his dismissed his "villain" portrayal in the latest season of the Netflix series Break Point.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Russian world No.3<\/a> is featured heavily in the episode 'Unfinished Business'<\/em>, which follows German Alexander Zverev<\/a> and his loose rivalry with Medvedev.<\/p>\n

In the episode, Zverev describes Medvedev as someone "who plays with the head of the opponent".\u00a0<\/p>\n

But Medvedev, who was not interviewed as part of the series and admitted he hasn't watched the episode, dismissed the show as "not real life".<\/p>\n

"I saw a little bit here and there \u2026 I didn't watch it and probably will not because I'll get frustrated probably," he said with a laugh in his pre-Australian Open media conference on Friday.<\/p>\n

"I heard a little bit, but I don't have much to say.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"That's how Netflix is, and that's why we love it, because it exaggerates things, it's usually hot and cold, there is no neutral.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"People around me, people in the locker room, they know how I am, how I am on court, which can be tricky, how I am off court.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The episode has also come under fire for not addressing serious allegations of domestic violence<\/a> by two former partners.<\/p>\n

Netflix was accused by the UK Independent of giving Zverev "a pretty free ride" in the 46-minute episode, while leading tennis journalist Ben Rothenberg describing the producers' decision to not address the accusations as "surreal" and "galling".<\/p>\n

The fly-on-the-wall documentary series, which debuted a year ago on the streaming platform, follows professional tennis players throughout a season on tour. It was loosely based on the smash F1 series 'Drive to Survive'.<\/p>\n

Women's world No.15 Daria Kasatkina also hit out at the episode and took to X, formerly Twitter, to offer her own glowing endorsement of Medvedev.<\/p>\n

"In this story, I wish kids will take a "villain" as an example of a human being," she said.<\/p>\n

"Danya is the best. Netflix sucks (by the way)."<\/p>\n

Medvedev, who will play French qualifier Terence Atmane in the first round of the Australian Open, explained he was changing the way he went about his preparation for the 2024 AO, having only arrived in Australia last week.<\/p>\n

He hasn't played a warm up tournament, although did play in an exhibition match.<\/p>\n
