Former Melbourne Storm<\/a> star Justin Olam will join the Wests Tigers<\/a> with immediate effect after signing a three-year deal with the club.<\/p>\n

The Storm released Olam from his contract \u2014 which was valid until the end of 2026 after extending in June 2022 \u2014 allowing the 30-year-old to commence pre-season training with the Tigers from Monday.<\/p>\n

The news follows a report from the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> \ufeffon Tuesday that Olam had verbally agreed to join the club from the 2024 season.<\/p>\n

According to the Herald, Tigers coach Benji Marshall<\/a> flew to Melbourne to lure Olam across.<\/p>\n

"Justin is a world class player who will bring plenty of experience to our team," Marshall said.<\/p>\n

"He is a proven winner who has played at the highest level. His leadership and communication will be very valuable to our club."<\/p>\n

Marshall's efforts left a mark on \ufeffOlam, with the 2021 Dally M centre of the year buying into the new era at the Tigers.<\/p>\n

"I was really impressed by Benji and his vision for me and the team, and it's so exciting to be here," Olam said.<\/p>\n

"I'm keen to put in the work and win the trust of the boys and the coaches at training, and hopefully contribute to what the club is building."<\/p>\n

In six seasons with the Storm, Olam made 104 appearances, including in the club's 2020 premiership triumph, and scored 46 tries.<\/p>\n

Olam \ufeffalso represented Papua New Guinea 14 times after making his international debut in 2016.<\/p>\n

Known for his massive hits, Olam was down on form in 2023 and even spent time playing for the Sunshine Coast in the Queensland Cup.<\/p>\n
