A bad day for the St George Illawarra Dragons<\/a> has become a nightmare.<\/p>\n

Only hours after halfback recruit Ronald Volkman was ruled out for the year with a shoulder injury, Wide World of Sports<\/em> has learned that another new signing, Corey Allan<\/a>, has suffered a major knee injury and may also be out for the year.<\/p>\n

Allan, signed from Sydney Roosters recently and a leading contender for a centre spot, twisted his knee in a training mishap and scans revealed an ACL tear.<\/p>\n

"It's cruel\u2026 unbelievable – two new signings gone in one day," a Dragons insider told Wide World of Sports<\/em> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"All we can do is persevere but this is really testing us."<\/p>\n

Allan, 25, is a former Queensland State of Origin representative who played 13 games at the Roosters last year after previous stints with the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

Volkman, meanwhile, is in limbo with the Dragons now not expected to register his contract.<\/p>\n

Routine scans showed that a shoulder surgery last year has not properly healed.<\/p>\n
