Marnus Labuschagne<\/a> and Sam Billings were at the centre of a bizarre moment during the Brisbane Heat<\/a>'s 23-run win over the Perth Scorchers<\/a> on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

Following the customary 10-over break during the Heat's innings, Labuschagne and Billings resumed at the wrong ends of the Gabba pitch, bewildering fans and commentators.<\/p>\n

Having lost \ufeffUsman Khawaja for 14<\/a> and Colin Munro for two, Labuschagne came to the crease with plenty of work to do.<\/p>\n

After Matt Renshaw \ufeffwas caught on 18 at the end of the ninth over, incoming batter Billings did not face a ball with Labuschagne on strike for the entire 10th over before he hit a single off the last ball.<\/p>\n

As a result, \ufeffLabuschagne should have resumed on strike after the halfway break, but instead, it was Billings who mistakenly faced the first ball of the 11th over.<\/p>\n

After Billings scampered through for a quick single, \ufeffLabuschagne then edged a Lance Morris delivery straight into Josh Inglis' gloves.<\/p>\n

As he departed, it was not lost on viewers that Labuschagne should have faced the first ball which would have seen things play out differently.<\/p>\n

"Marnus with the second ball of the Morris over, previous delivery Billings scored a single, the last ball of the over before that Marnus scored a single," Adam Gilchrist said in commentary for Fox Cricket after the break.<\/p>\n

"So Marnus should have been on strike for the first ball of the over. It's what we can recollect. We're trying to backtrack.<\/p>\n

"Clearly it's not going to hold up the game now, they're just going to move on.<\/p>\n

"So Marnus scored a single off the last ball of the 10th over. They had drinks and came back out. Sam Billings faced the next ball when Marnus should have been facing. He gets a single and Marnus is out next ball.<\/p>\n

"Extraordinary events."<\/p>\n

Aaron Finch added in commentary that the Heat's line-up was likely a batter short with all-rounder Michael Neser batting at No.7.<\/p>\n

However, \ufeffNeser eventually saved the day for the Heat, unbeaten on 64 runs from 30 balls after coming in when the team were floundering on 5-91.<\/p>\n

He then starred with the ball, taking 2-31 from his four overs as well as a diving catch to dismiss Inglis.<\/p>\n
