Despite Australian selector George Bailey denying that Cameron Bancroft has been overlooked for Test selection due to the ball-tampering saga<\/a>, the out-of-favour batsman's manager has opened up on the aftermath of missing out.<\/p>\n

Australia decided to go with Cameron Green in the lineup for the first Test against the West Indies<\/a> in Adelaide, with Steve Smith to move into retiring David Warner's spot at the top of the order.<\/p>\n

Alongside Bancroft, Marcus Harris also missed selection.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He's gone through a whole range of emotions," Bancroft's manager Ben Tippett told SEN's Sportsday on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"Yesterday he was really upset, disappointed is probably more the feeling.<\/p>\n

"Today he might be a bit angry, but he's such a positive bloke."<\/p>\n

The lingering impact of the 2018 ball-tampering scandal \ufeffdid not play into the selection panel's decision to snub Bancroft, said Bailey, with the ex-Test player vehemently denying those claims during his press conference.<\/p>\n

"Categorically, no," Bailey said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

"I've shared this with Cameron on a number of occasions. It has never at any stage been discussed from the panel's perspective, and it is purely a cricketing decision."<\/p>\n

It comes as SEN host Adam White also reported that captain Pat Cummins called Bancroft to clear the air after the selection snub.<\/p>\n

"Pat Cummins personally rang Cameron Bancroft today to make it clear his non-selection in the Test squad had nothing to do with the sandpaper saga or any subsequent comments made around the issue," White reported on X on Wednesday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeffBancroft will continue his domestic run with the Sydney Thunder on Friday night – potentially opening the batting alongside Warner and opposite Smith – before returning to Shield duties with WA next month.<\/p>\n
