A leading tennis<\/a> journalist has taken aim at Netflix \ufefffor its Alexander Zverev<\/a> profile in the new Break Point<\/em> season.<\/p>\n

The fly-on-the-wall documentary series, which debuted a year ago on the streaming platform, follows professional tennis players throughout a season on tour.<\/p>\n

In season two, to be released in Australia on Wednesday, one of the six episodes focuses entirely on German player Zverev.<\/p>\n

But \ufeffhigh-profile reporter Ben Rothenberg has accused the streaming giant of failing to recognise domestic violence allegations against Zverev.<\/p>\n

The same claim was written by the UK Independent, which says Zverev \ufeff"gets a pretty free ride" in the 46-minute episode dedicated to him, which is titled "Unfinished business".<\/p>\n

\ufeffWide World of Sports has not seen the episode. N\ufeffetflix was contacted by Wide World of Sports, but chose to not comment.<\/p>\n

Zverev has been accused of assault by two former partners.<\/p>\n

\ufeffOlga Sharypova first made her accusations against Zverev public in 2020, while in October last year he was issued a penalty order and fined $758,000 by a Berlin court over allegations of bodily harm against Brenda Patea.<\/p>\n

Zverev has denied all allegations against him.<\/p>\n

Rothenberg and the UK Independent claim Netflix chose to profile Zverev's comeback from an ankle injury, while failing to recognise the serious allegations against him.<\/p>\n

"Zverev is cast as the hero making his comeback, and the villain of the episode is Daniil Medvedev. There's a scene where Zverev watches Medvedev lose in R1 at the 2023 French Open and applauds. And then it cuts to Zverev talking about the power in karma," Rothenberg says.<\/p>\n

"This is all surreal enough as is, but even more so when you remember that Medvedev lost that match to Thiago Seyboth Wild, another player who, like Zverev, is facing accusations of abuse from an ex-girlfriend (albeit only one ex-girlfriend). Wild, like Zverev, also denies them.<\/p>\n

"The Break Point<\/em> producers had literal (sic) hundreds of options for who to spotlight and profile in season two, and they chose Zverev, and chose to do it for him in this way. It's a decision so galling, honestly, that it completely overshadows everything else in the season.<\/p>\n

"And there was plenty of public footage if they couldn't get any cooperation from the Medvedevs to participate in the show."<\/p>\n

Zverev is in Australia where he helped Germany win the United Cup in Sydney on Sunday.<\/p>\n
