Controversial NBA<\/a> superstar Draymond Green<\/a> has revealed leag\ufeffue commissioner Adam Silver talked him out of retiring in the midst of his latest suspension.<\/p>\n

The 33-year-old was banned indefinitely by the NBA in mid-December for an ugly on-court incident with Phoenix's Jusuf Nurkic, but has since been reinstated and returned to practice with Golden State.<\/a><\/p>\n

Green has been at the centre of plenty of controversy in recent years, from his infamous training mishap with Jordan Poole to a litany \ufeffof scuffles and indiscretions with rival players leading to plenty of time on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

But his most recent incident has proved costly for the Warriors and led to plenty of calls for the four-time NBA champion to hang up the boots – a decision Green was strongly considering until a conversation with the competition's leader.<\/p>\n

"I told him, 'Adam this is too much for me … this is too much'," he said on his self-titled podcast released on Tuesday (AEDT).<\/p>\n

"It's all becoming too much for me and I'm going to retire. Adam said, 'You're making a very rash decision and I won't let you do that'.<\/p>\n

"We had a long, great conversation, [it was] very helpful to me. Very thankful to play in a league with a commissioner like Adam who's more about helping you than hurting you; helping you than punishing you.<\/p>\n

"He's more about the players."<\/p>\n

Silver has served as the commissioner since 2014, overseeing a large majority of Green's career in Warriors colours.<\/p>\n

Green is expected to return to action for Golden State \ufeffwithin the next week, with his likely comeback against the Milwaukee Bucks or Memphis Grizzlies.<\/p>\n
