T\ufeffhe career of David Warner<\/a> in the Test line-up has come to an end, with the search now beginning for Australia<\/a> selectors to find a replacement for the West Indies series.<\/p>\n

After 13 years in the baggy green, Warner bowed out on Saturday in front of his friends and family in Sydney<\/a>, scoring a quick-fire 57 to help the side secure a series clean-sweep against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old \ufeffwill leave a gaping hole at the top of the order for the Aussies, with the left-hander becoming a focal point of the team since making the jump to the Test arena in 2011.<\/p>\n

Cameron Bancroft, Matt Renshaw and Marcus Harris have been touted as front-runners given the fact they are specialist openers, while the likes of Cameron Green<\/a> and Steve Smith<\/a> are also set to factor into discussions in the coming weeks and months.<\/p>\n

Scoring runs as quickly \ufeffas Warner did in red-ball cricket will be almost impossible to replicate for the Aussies – but according to former Test captain Mark Taylor<\/a>, there's another crucial aspect of replacing 'The Bull' that needs to be addressed.<\/p>\n

"It's going to be hard to replace David, not just for the runs but the way he goes about those runs and scoring them quickly – that certainly is an advantage to Australia," he told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"The other thing I've been very big on for a long time is the person who does replace him needs to be a good fielder and a good catcher in particular.<\/p>\n

"I've got Bancroft and Renshaw at the top of the list in terms of openers, and if you want to try something different, I would not be against seeing Cameron Green come into the side somewhere.<\/p>\n

"That way, you bring in another batsman and he's a very good fielder.<\/p>\n

"If people learned anything from last week's game at the MCG, you saw the importance of being able to hang onto your catches."<\/p>\n

Pakistan was crippled by a number of unfortunate moments in the field, with a number of missed chances in Melbourne gifting the hosts vital runs and spoiling any chance \ufeffof a tied series heading into the SCG fixture in the first week of January.<\/p>\n

Green has proven himself to be a valuable asset in the field – particularly in the gully \ufeff- taking 25 catches in 24 appearances in the Test line-up, while also using his long levers to stop balls most fielders wouldn't be able to reach.<\/p>\n

Warner's fielding has been a major difference for Australia throughout his lengthy international career, becoming a permanent fixture in the slips cordon at Test level with 91 catches in 112 games.<\/p>\n

His efforts in both white-ball formats were equally as impressive, taking 127 grabs in both ODI and T20I cricket during his career, proving the old adage of "catches win matches" to still ring true in the modern game, helping the Aussies to multiple World Cup triumphs.<\/p>\n

Green would also bring an extra bowling option into the Aussie line-up for Pat Cummins to utilise, but his lack of experience at the top of the order could see the previously-mentioned Smith make the jump.<\/p>\n
