The New Year's Test at the SCG<\/a> has been turned on its head by shocking collapses from both Australia and Pakistan<\/a> on day three.<\/p>\n

After being 5-289, Australia<\/a> lost 5-10 to be bowled out for 299 with Mark Waugh<\/a> describing it as a "the collapse of all collapses" on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

Pakistan then went in for their second innings and were 2-1 very quickly with Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood both departing for ducks.<\/p>\n

Throughout Australia's innings, Aamir Jamal continued his impressive series, taking 6-69 to put him equal first with Pat Cummins for leading wicket-takers. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Australia resumed day three at 2-116 with Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith still out there.<\/p>\n

Following Labuschagne's half-century, both men fell with the score at 187 before Travis Head followed later for 10 at 5-205.<\/p>\n

Alex Carey (38) and Mitchell Marsh (54) combined for an 84-run partnership before the five wickets fell in quick succession as Jamal ripped through the Australian batting lineup.<\/p>\n

Pakistan started their second innings with a lead of 14 runs but lost all momentum early when Mitchell Starc bowled Shafique and Josh Hazlewood<\/a> had Shan Masood caught behind.<\/p>\n

Saim Ayub and Babar Azam put 57 runs together before spinners Nathan Lyon and Travis Head dismissed them both to make it 4-60.<\/p>\n

Hazlewood then ripped through late in the day, claiming Saud Shakeel, who played a rash drive and edged it to Steve Smith at first slip.<\/p>\n

Nightwatchman Sajid Khan was then bowled before Salman Ali Agha was out for a duck too as Pakistan finished the day 7-68, leading by 82 runs.<\/p>\n
