A frustrated N\ufeffovak Djokovic<\/a> has admitted he wasn't on his "level" during his shock straight-sets loss to Australian hopeful Alex de Minaur in the United Cup quarter-finals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was the world No.1's first loss in Australia in 43 matches<\/a>, with the 24-year-old Australian winning 6-4, 6-4 in Perth.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe 24-time grand slam champion struggled again with a wrist complaint, becoming agitated with the team's trainer when being treated during the first set.<\/p>\n

"I was not on my level. It was just one of these days where you didn't feel your best on court," Djokovic said in his post-match press conference.<\/p>\n

"I have plenty of time … enough time to get myself in the right shape for the Australian Open. That's what matters most at this point.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

The shock loss came just a day after the 36-year-old played down wrist worries following his 6-1, 6-7, 6-1 United Cup win over Czech Republic's Jiri Lehecka<\/a>, despite pulling out of Serbia's mixed doubles match.<\/a><\/p>\n

During the first set against de Minaur, Djokovic was heard\ufeff airing his frustrations regarding his wrist injury to his trainer.<\/p>\n

"So the logic in that, if it continues getting worse the next day, you\ufeff won't treat it because it …. occurred yesterday," Djokovic said on the team bench.<\/p>\n

"I said it has improved before the match. When I started playing, the more I'm playing, it's getting worse, that's what I told you."<\/p>\n

Djokovic's loss was de Minaur's first victory over a world No.1.<\/p>\n

The young Australian paid tribute to one of tennis' greatest ever players post match on Wednesday.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's extremely special. Novak is an unbelievable competitor, what he's done for the sport is incredible," de Minaur said on Channel Nine's coverage.<\/p>\n

"It feels surreal, it feels amazing. This one definitely means a lot."<\/p>\n
