Ajla Tomlanovic<\/a> has pulled off a straight-sets victory over Serbia's Natalija Stevanovic, to advance Australia to the United Cup semi-finals.\ufeff<\/p>\n

After losing to the USA's Jessica Pegula and Great Britain's Katie Boulter in straight sets in a rocky start to her campaign in Perth<\/a>, Tomlanovic was given a chance to seal Australia's fate on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

She did just that, with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, handing Australia a 2-0 victory over Serbia.<\/a><\/p>\n

Her win came after Alex de Minaur's shock straight sets win over world no.1 Novak Djokovic<\/a> in the game prior.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I'm always coming out here. They (team Australia) gave me the chance to get a W, Demon played amazing today," Tomljanovic told Jelena Dokic in Channel Nine's post-match coverage.<\/p>\n

"To get a chance when you're losing to keep going, to have a third-match win. It feels good."<\/p>\n

\ufeffAfter undergoing knee surgery in a tough 2023, the Australian had one goal coming into the new year.<\/p>\n

"It wasn't upbeat for a while, I did have this thought in my head, come January 2024, I want to be ready, anything before that is a bonus," Tomljanovic said.<\/p>\n

"It kind of feels more special when you go through something tough."<\/p>\n

Team captain Lleyton Hewitt was beaming with pride for the 30-year-old.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"She's been fantastic all week. She had a really tough year last year being injured. Now to give herself an opportunity in the finals in Sydney," Hewitt said.<\/p>\n
