Pakistan<\/a> have fought hard in the final session from day one of the third Test after an 84-run 10th wicket partnership between Aamir Jamal and Mir Hamza<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Pat Cummins<\/a>' first five-wicket haul at the SCG in Test cricket had the tourists at 9-227 but \ufeffJamal's 82 brought plenty of respectability to the total of 313. <\/p>\n

Australia's short-pitched bowling tactic came under the microscope during that \ufefffinal partnership despite the side removing Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Sajid Khan and Hasan Ali with the strategy. <\/p>\n

"Look at that partnership … that's going to hurt Australia, it must be hurting them now," Pakistan legend Wasim Akram<\/a> said on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

Kerry O'Keeffe suggested the short-pitched bowling tactic from Australia was the wrong one. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I think Australia will look at their tactics when he came out to the crease and think we may have got this a little wrong\ufeff," he said.<\/p>\n

"This wasn't scripted," he added later on before Jamal's dismissal. <\/p>\n

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat in the New Year's Test\ufeff and were off to a shocking start at 2-4 with both openers gone for ducks. <\/p>\n

The tourists continued to build small partnerships but Australia's fast bowlers continued to cause havoc and had them 5-9\ufeff6 at one stage. <\/p>\n

Rizwan was able to wrestle back momentum and score 88 but he became Cummins' third wicket before another collapse put the score at 9-227 with the Australian captain claiming his third five-wicket haul in a row. <\/p>\n

However, Jamal went on to score the highest score of his career and get Pakistan over 300. <\/p>\n

\ufeffWith the tourists bowled out late in the day, that left one over for the Aussies to combat as David Warner<\/a> and Usman Khawaja walked out for their final Test innings together. <\/p>\n
