Harry Kewell<\/a> looks set to follow further in the footsteps of Ange Postecoglou<\/a>, with the S\ufeffocceroos<\/a> legend in talks to take over the top job at Japanese club Yokohama F. Marinos.<\/p>\n

The 45-year-old is currently working as an assistant at Celtic FC<\/a> under Brendan Rodgers, helping the side to an eight-point lead atop the Scottish Premiership \ufefftable.<\/p>\n

Kewell has been making his way up the ranks since retiring from on-field duties in 2014 and was brought to the Scottish powerhouse last year by Postecoglou – but he could now be in line for his toughest challenge as a coach next year.<\/p>\n

According to multiple reports, Kewell is heavily favoured to take over from a fellow Australian at the J1 League outfit, with head coach Kevin Muscat<\/a> stepping down after Yokohama's recent title win.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Rodgers revealed the decision regarding Kewell's future was imminent and believes the ex-Liverpool star has what it takes to succeed in the position.<\/p>\n

"Yeah, we will probably know more in the next few days, but he has been in talks about going to Japan," Rodgers said.<\/p>\n

"It is something that will probably be clarified in the coming days.<\/p>\n

"It's great for Harry. I think it's great if you've coaches who have that chance to go on and develop, improve and achieve an ambition.<\/p>\n

\"Ange<\/p>\n

"I've really liked working with Harry. He's a good guy, he's very honest and diligent. His work is very professional.<\/p>\n

"If there's an opportunity to go and manage and you want to do it, then you go and do it."<\/p>\n

Kewell's likely move will se him become the third-straight Aussie to manage F. Marinos, with Postecoglou bringing overwhelming success to the franchise during his tenure from 2018 to 2021 before his own well-documented move across to Celtic.<\/p>\n

The symmetry between the highly-rated Kewell and current Tottenham coach Postecoglou \ufeffwill only continue if the move is confirmed, while Muscat is set to move onto Chinese giant Shanghai.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
