A\ufeffustralia<\/a>'s tour of India<\/a> has started with an "absolute nightmare" after Phoebe Litchfield was run out in the first over of the one and only Test match<\/a>.<\/p>\n

New Australian captain Alyssa Healy<\/a> won the toss at Wankhede\ufeff and elected to bat and it was a nervy start for opener Beth Mooney, who played and missed three out of the first four deliveries.<\/p>\n

Then with the last ball of Renuka Singh's over, Mooney nudged one into the point region before indecisiveness between the wickets led to Litchfield being run out by Jemimah Rodrigues for a diamond duck.<\/p>\n

"That is an absolute nightmare for the Australian team, and Beth Mooney cannot believe that she's done that," former Australian cricketer Julia Price said on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

"Diamond duck for Phoebe Litchfield, doesn't even get to face a ball, and Beth Mooney is in a little bit of shock there.<\/p>\n

"… great work there by Jemimah Rodrigues, Phoebe Litchfield not even in the frame and that is the best-possible start for India."<\/p>\n

\ufeffAfter the dire start, Mooney and No.3 Ellyse Perry<\/a> almost had a similar mix-up when the latter hadn't faced a ball.<\/p>\n

Former Indian women's cricket coach W.V. Raman put it down to the "anxiety" of Test cricket. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Experienced or not, the early moments of a Test match is always full of anxious moments and that is on display here," he said.<\/p>\n

"Look at the experience between the both of them but they're still not certain,\ufeff there's a clear anxiety that's prevailing out there in the middle."<\/p>\n

The nervous start continued for Australia when Perry was bowled for four off her second ball by a ripping delivery from Pooja Vastrakar\ufeff, leaving the Aussies at 2-7 inside two overs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
