British police have been called in to investigate after a fan confronted a goalkeeper in the EFL quarter-final.<\/a><\/p>\n

The fan ran onto the pitch and confronted Newcastle<\/a> keeper Martin Dubravka after Chelsea<\/a> scored an injury-time equaliser at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday morning (AEDT).<\/p>\n

Replays showed the fan breaking past a security guard and colliding with Dubravka after Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk scored.<\/p>\n

The fan then evaded the same security guards and disappeared into the crowd, prompting Police and Chelsea to launch an investigation into determining his identity.<\/p>\n

"Well that Chelsea supporter will be in big bother … I don't think he'll be attending many football matches in the future," the BeIn commentator said.<\/p>\n

The equaliser meant the match was sent to a penalty shootout. Referee Jarred Gillet spoke to stadium security officials before the shootout began.<\/p>\n

Chelsea would go on to win the match 4-2 on penalities.<\/p>\n

Afterwards both managers voiced their concerns about player safety.<\/p>\n

"We need to be careful. The fans need to be careful with this type of thing because it's a thing that can put in danger the players," Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I'm disappointed. I don't agree with this type of thing that happened here in Stamford Bridge and in other stadiums in England or around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's always disappointing with this type of thing because it's dangerous."<\/p>\n

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe echoed those thoughts.<\/p>\n

"I have always said that the safety of players, coaches, managers, referees, linesmen that's the priority in any football match," Howe said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
