Socceroos<\/a> legend and former goal keeper Mark Schwarzer believes the once proud Red Devils should consider poaching Ange Postecoglou<\/a> from Tottenham.<\/p>\n

Postecoglou's love affair with the English game has continued despite a bumpy end to the calendar year.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAfter a record-breaking start to his first Premier League season with Tottenham, Spurs came undone through a string of lean results, but has now regained momentum with consecutive wins over Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n

After the most recent win over the Forest, \ufeffformer England and Manchester United defender Gary Neville fuelled speculation about the Aussie's future, when he suggested cross-town rivals Manchester City<\/a> could be in the running to lure Postecoglou away from White Hart Lane.<\/p>\n

"Spurs fans won't like this but he is amazing, and if you're Manchester City losing Pep Guardiola in a year or two, you'd be looking at Ange Postecoglou now thinking 'wow that's exactly what we want to see'," he said.<\/p>\n

"What they can do is enjoy one of the best brands of football I've seen in 10 years since I finished playing football.<\/p>\n

"I love watching Tottenham Hotspur play."<\/p>\n

However, Schwarzer countered Neville's argument, \ufefftelling The Optus Sport Football Podcast, Manchester United would be a better fit.<\/p>\n

The Red Devils of today are a far cry to that of yesteryear, with the club\ufeff winning 13 league titles between 1993 and 2013 under manager Sir Alex Ferguson.<\/p>\n

Since Ferguson's retirement, United has stumbled from coach to coach, with the once feared team going through eight managers in that time.<\/p>\n

"I'm surprised that Gary Neville wouldn't be saying Manchester United should be trying to get him," Schwarzer said.<\/p>\n

"If they want to make a change, that's the person they should be heading for because he plays the attractive sort of football that Manchester United also have had in the past.<\/p>\n

"I know he fits the City Group, he fits that Manchester City thing. I totally understand that. That makes 100 per cent sense.<\/p>\n

"What I'm saying is, if I were Man United, I'd be going, hang on a second, I want to play a bit like that and I want to have a bit of Ange Postecoglou."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
