Marnus Labuschagne<\/a> has declared himself fit for the Boxing Day Test<\/a> despite copping a nasty ball to his finger in the series opener against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Australia's No.3 managed just two runs off 18 deliveries in the second innings when he was dismissed shortly after doctors tended to a finger on his right hand after the blow from Pakistan seamer Khurram Shahzad.<\/p>\n

While Labuschagne's career Test average still stands at a healthy 52, he has endured the toughest calendar year of his career in 2023, averaging just 35 in 12 Test appearances.<\/p>\n

Having fought so hard to make his way into the Test team, the 29-year-old has no plans on letting it slip anytime soon.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"That's happened so many times when I've been on the bench, so it's going to have to take something pretty serious I reckon to have me miss," he said.<\/p>\n

Despite his confidence, Labuschagne admitted that the blow made him "nervous".<\/p>\n

\ufeff"The finger's fine, there's no break," he revealed.<\/p>\n

"It hit me more on the knuckle side and jammed up my hand, so I was a bit nervous out there. I've had a lot of finger blows, but this felt a bit different.<\/p>\n

\"Aussies<\/p>\n

"Overnight it was a little bit sore but Sunday morning was fine. I had a hit and it was all right.<\/p>\n

"It just got me in a bit of an awkward spot. There was no padding on that side of the glove, and it got me sort of underneath and jammed it, so it didn't feel that good. But I've actually got some really good range in it.<\/p>\n

"I probably didn't have as much control of squarer shots, but a couple of days off will do it good."<\/p>\n
