N\ufeffathan Lyon<\/a> has officially got the "monkey off his back", becoming just the third Australian to bring up 500 Test wickets, joining Shane Warne (708) and Glenn McGrath (563) at the top of the elite list.<\/p>\n

Lyon removed Faheem Ashraf for five runs after an LBW review, becoming the first Test cricketing off spinner to reach the milestone, helping Australia to a whopping 360-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Just two balls later, he bowled \ufeffAamer Jamal for a duck, sending the Perth crowd absolutely wild, becoming just the eighth player in the history of Test cricket to bring up his 500th wicket.<\/p>\n

The victory came after Australia declared following Usman Khawaja's dismissal on 90, setting Pakistan the target of 450 for an unlikely victory.<\/p>\n

After Australia's fast bowlers ripped through Pakistan's \ufeffopening batsman, Lyon stepped up, with the whole of the Perth crowd and country riding every single ball.<\/p>\n

Despite a few false starts, Lyon would eventually\ufeff go on to record his 500th and 501st wickets in heroic fashion.<\/p>\n

"Lyon confirms his place in cricket history, he is truly a great," Australian legend Adam Gilchrist said on Fox.<\/p>\n

"He joins elite company, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath."<\/p>\n

"What an outstanding performance. From very humble beginnings," New Zealand icon Ian Smith agreed on commentary.<\/p>\n
