Despite falling for a duck on day three of the first Test against Pakistan<\/a>, David Warner<\/a> won't be worried about his spot in Australia's side, says cricketing legend\ufeff Mark Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After belting 167 on day one<\/a>, Warner failed to make his mark in Australia's second innings, caught by Imam ul-Haq after top edging an attempted pull shot off Khurram Shahzad in just the second over.<\/p>\n

It's the first time in the veteran has scored a century and a duck in the same Test match\ufeff, but Taylor believes it won't be cause for too much concern.<\/p>\n

"As we often say with David, he's the sort of guy who comes out and attacks. When you've got an attacking opener like David, you're going to miss out (on scoring runs sometimes)," Taylor told Wide World of Sports on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\"PERTH,<\/p>\n

"The first innings he comes out, plays some shots and gets away and makes a big difference to Australia when he gets away, because he sets a platform because he does score quickly."<\/p>\n

Taylor was quick to shut down doubts surrounding the 37-year-old, who will retire from Test cricket after the Sydney Test in January.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Today, he didn't get away. But to me, I'm sure David Warner won't worry about any more than nicking one behind for naught.<\/p>\n

"He'll just say 'okay, I've got 160 (runs) and I've got a naught. I've averaged 80-odd for the Test match. I'm hitting them well'. I'm sure he's looking forward to Boxing Day and his final Test in Sydney."<\/p>\n

In commentary for Fox Sports, Ian Smith described the shot Warner played as \ufeff"awkward".<\/p>\n

Marnus Labuschagne also struggled with bat in hand, failing again to make his mark on the scoreboard while also battling a pinky complaint.<\/p>\n

Scoring only 18 runs (16 and two) across Australia's two innings in Perth\ufeff, Taylor downplayed concerns over the 29-year-old's form.<\/p>\n

"(I'm) not really concerned because Australia are still going well, but he's certainly not in the form this year, that's he's been in the past," Taylor said.<\/p>\n

"It's (his average) certainly been down on recent years for Marnus. he's probably seeing a bit of a dip.<\/p>\n

\"Marnus<\/p>\n

"But that's Test match cricket. You have your highs, you have your lows and he's had a lot of highs in the first … four years of his career."<\/p>\n

Australia will resume day \ufefffour of the first Test on 2-84<\/a> with a 300-run lead.<\/p>\n
