Two-time grand slam champion Simona Halep<\/a> is no longer working with coach Patrick Mouratoglou's academy while she awaits a ruling on her appeal of a four-year doping suspension<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old figures her tennis career will be over if the Court of Arbitration for Sport rules against her.<\/p>\n

\u201cFour years is going to be a lot for my age,\u201d Halep said in an interview with European television news network Euronews posted online Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s catastrophic if it\u2019s going to be four years.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I don\u2019t know how I will handle it. Probably it\u2019s going to be [the] end of [my] career, yes.\u201d<\/p>\n

A three-day hearing with the Court of Arbitration for Sport is scheduled for February 7-9 in her appeal against the International Tennis Integrity Agency, which ruled that Halep \u201ccommitted intentional anti-doping rule violations."<\/p>\n

Halep tested positive for the drug roxadustat at the 2022 US Open and also was cited for irregularities in her biological passport.<\/p>\n

Roxadustat stimulates the body to produce more of the natural hormone erythropoietin, or EPO, which has long been a doping product favoured by cyclists and distance runners.<\/p>\n

Halep revealed that she had not spoken to Mouratoglou since \u201ca few months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a video posted on Mouratoglou's Instagram in November, he took the blame for providing a tainted substance to Halep.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe brought her collagen from a company. This collagen happened to be contaminated,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no way to know it. But I feel responsible for what happened because it\u2019s my team \u2014 so me, basically \u2014 who brought her this collagen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mouratoglou was the long-time coach of Serena Williams before working with Halep.<\/p>\n

The Romanian won Roland-Garros in 2018 by beating Sloane Stephens in the final, and Wimbledon in 2019 by defeating Williams<\/a> in the title match.<\/p>\n

The former world No.1 spoke with Euronews in Paris and said she hopes she wins her appeal and will be eligible to compete in next year's Olympic Games in that city.<\/p>\n
