U\ufeffsman Khawaja<\/a> says the prevailing emotion was "frustration" when the International Cricket Council (ICC) banned him from displaying a message on his shoes<\/a> during the first Test.<\/p>\n

Khawaja faced a potential ban from cricket's governing body for writing a pair of messages on the Israel-Palestine conflict on his shoes.<\/p>\n

The Australian opener still wore the shoes during his warm-up, but with tape on them covering the messages.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI just think that so much has happened in the past that sets a precedent," Khawaja told Fox Cricket ahead of day one against Pakistan.<\/p>\n

\"David<\/p>\n

"I mean, I'm in full support of Black Lives Matter. There's plenty of guys that have written on their shoes before. There's other guys who have religious things on their equipment, and under the ICC guidelines that's not technically allowed.<\/p>\n

"But the ICC never says anything on that, so I find it a little disappointing that they came down hard on me, and they don't always come down hard on everyone else. That was probably the most frustrating part."<\/p>\n

Khawaja faced criticism from several ex-Australian players such as Simon O'Donnell and said that made him feel uncomfortable.<\/p>\n
