A\ufefffter the departure of several high profile players<\/a>, the Big Bash League<\/a> has been given a significant boost with Pat Cummins<\/a> returning to the Sydney Thunder<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Australian captain could play in BBL 13 if he becomes available during Australia's Test summer.<\/p>\n

Cummins will be on a supplementary contract as a 19th player in the squad, sitting outside of the 18-man playing squad.<\/p>\n

The fast bowler last played in BBL 09, having been part of the Sydney Thunder's title winning squad in the 2015\/16 season.<\/p>\n

While Cummins is likely to feature more in an ambassador role, the 30-year-old expressed excitement at returning to his old club. \ufeff<\/p>\n

\ufeff"I'm a Western Sydney guy at heart so I'm really glad I can be a part of the team this summer," he said.<\/p>\n

"International duties dictate I can't be around as much as I'd like but I'm keen to have a voice and back the guys all the way."<\/p>\n

Throughout Cummins' domestic T20 career, he's taken 143 wickets at 26.67 with best figures of 4-16.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHead of Sydney Thunder, Andrew Gilchrist, indicated it'd be unlikely Cummins is involved in the competition but still spoke glowingly of the Test and ODI captain's recruitment.<\/p>\n

"We're incredibly lucky to have Pat on board. He's a true great of the game and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience," he said.<\/p>\n
