A\ufeffustralian cricketing hero Travis Head<\/a> has been crowned the Internation Cricket Council's Men's Player of the Month for November after his heroic World Cup final knock that led his side to victory<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Defeating host nation India by six wickets\ufeff, Head collected his maiden award after starring in Ahmedabad with 163 runs and incredible catch to dismiss key opening batsman Rohit Sharma.<\/p>\n

Before that, in Australia's semi final, Head notched up 62 runs\ufeff and nabbed two wickets, which eventually led to Australia's sixth World Cup title.<\/p>\n

Head\ufeff, who is now gearing up for Australia's Test summer, which begins on Thursday against Pakistan in Perth, reflected on his "incredible" run to win the player of the month honour.<\/p>\n

"It's a great honour to be recognised with this award, but it is a team effort. Without my team-mates across all formats this wouldn't have happened; so these types of awards are as much for them as they are for me," Head said.<\/p>\n

"It's been an incredible 12 months for the team which it has been a real privilege to be a part of.<\/p>\n

"The way we have navigated a home summer, away trips to India, England, South Africa, India and the World Cup has been great credit to Pat (Cummins), the players and the staff."<\/p>\n

But it wasn't all smooth sailing for Head, \ufeffwhose spot in the World Cup side was threatened due to a hand injury<\/a> sustained during Australia's series against South Africa in September.<\/p>\n

Despite the setback, the 29-year-old expressed his gratitude towards the Australian selectors for allowing him to take part in what turned out to be the tournament of a lifetime for the batsman.<\/p>\n

\"Travis\u00a0joins\u00a0the\u00a0greats\u00a0with\u00a0all-time<\/p>\n

"I was fortunate that they kept the faith in me for the World Cup after breaking my hand, so it was a great opportunity for me to pay them back," Head said.<\/p>\n

"I felt the World Cup was amongst the best I have ever batted, so maybe having a rest before every campaign is the key."<\/p>\n

The Women's ICC Player of the Month was awarded to Bangladesh's Nahida Akter.<\/p>\n
