The British and Irish Lions will play in Ireland for the first time before the 2025 tour of Australia.<\/a><\/p>\n

Argentina has been lined up for a warm-up match at Lansdowne Road on June 20, 2025.<\/p>\n

The Lions and Argentina last met before the 2005 tour of New Zealand and drew 25-25 in Cardiff.<\/p>\n

"It is important that we look for ways in which to evolve our tours," Lions CEO Ben Calveley said.<\/p>\n

"This pre-tour fixture builds on the success of the pre-tour fixture against Japan at Murrayfield in 2021 which was a resounding success."<\/p>\n

That match, won by the Lions 28-10, cost them a tour ending injury to flanker Justin Tipuric.<\/p>\n

Captain Alun Wyn Jones suffered a dislocated shoulder but returned to play the tests in South Africa.<\/p>\n

The Lions have nine matches in Australia, including three Tests against the Wallabies.<\/p>\n

Wallabies star Mark Nawaqanitawase won't be part of the tour after announcing a move to the NRL in 2025.\ufeff<\/a><\/p>\n

"That's the surprising thing. I think we've hung our hat \u2013 and rugby \u2013 on the fact that the Lions are coming – we're hosting a World Cup as a way of securing talent. Perhaps that's not enough," Morgan Turinui told Today.<\/p>\n
