Spinner Matt Kuhnemann<\/a> has opened up on his "whirlwind" year, which was capped by a Test debut in India<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The left-arm orthodox bowler wasn't originally selected in the squad but flew to India<\/a> after Mitchell Swepson withdrew\ufeff and was then selected ahead of Ashton Agar<\/a> for the final three Tests.<\/p>\n

Kuhnemann's first wicket was Indian legend Virat Kohli<\/a> \ufeffbefore taking another eight in the series.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a BBL launch, the 27-year-old\ufeff looked back on an "amazing" year which also included a county cricket appearance for Durham.<\/p>\n

"The last 12 months has been a whirlwind, it happened so quickly," he told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"Going from India to England and playing a few county games there was amazing and then coming back here and not really getting too much opportunity with the red ball but it gave me a chance to tinker with a few things for the upcoming Big Bash, I'm just really excited to be out there playing again."<\/p>\n

Kuhnemann's \ufefftrip to India came as a shock for the cricket public, but the left-armer showed a consistency on the tour to reward selectors.<\/p>\n

The biggest learning experience for the Queenslander came from a 15-minute conversation with India's Ravindra Jadeja<\/a> – a master in the sub-continent and across the globe.<\/p>\n

Kuhnemann revealed on tour he'd asked for tips after the second Test, but was told to wait until the end of the series.<\/p>\n

The wait was worth it. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I learnt heaps (in India), every aspect of the game," he said.<\/p>\n

"The bowling, the mindset and just watching how the other guys prepare and play and just rubbing shoulders with Steve Smith and those sort of guys and a few pointers from Jadeja after the series as well which was excellent.<\/p>\n

"We spoke about everything, how to use the crease, to the mental side of the game, and a fair bit of my run up. I changed that when I went to England and had some success so hopefully I can bring that into the Big Bash as well."<\/p>\n

The Queenslander added the advice between rivals has become common place in the cricket world. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"India and Australia, because they've played against each other so much both teams are pretty experienced and with the IPL as well, everyone's really close with the Indian players," he said.<\/p>\n

"It's very competitive on the field but as soon as you step off the field, it was awesome and they had a lot of time for me if I wanted some tips."<\/p>\n

Kuhnemann's full focus now is on winning a Big Bash title with the Brisbane Heat.<\/p>\n

The left-armer described the new format of less matches as "exciting" \ufeffand didn't hide his side's goal after a grand final loss to Perth last season.<\/p>\n

"Go one better and win it," he said before the Big Bash kicked off.<\/p>\n

"We finished off the season pretty strong so hopefully we go one better."<\/p>\n
