The Perth Scorchers<\/a> and Melbourne Renegades<\/a> \ufeffBBL<\/a> fixture has been abandoned due to the condition of the pitch at GMHBA Stadium in Geelong.<\/p>\n

Water came through the covers in the lead-up to the fixture and after 6.5 overs, umpires intervened and halted play.<\/p>\n

Inconsistent bounce was a consistent theme throughout the start of the game, \ufeffwith Will Sutherland's second over the final straw.<\/p>\n

A full-length delivery that bounced high was the final ball, with batter Josh Inglis clearly frustrated at the pitch.<\/p>\n

Australian legend Adam Gilchrist said "I think there is a genuine threat, personally" when asked by Michael Vaughan<\/a> on Fox Cricket.\ufeff<\/p>\n

After lashing the "poor covering" at the ground, Vaughan was \ufeffleft "frustrated" over the situation.<\/p>\n

"I just think sometimes in cricket we make too many excuses and for what I should see, that should not happen tonight. That shouldn't be the case that a game gets abandoned from water getting on the pitch."<\/p>\n
