Japan's Miyo Yoshida is the new IBF<\/a> World Bantamweight title holder after an upset win over Australian Ebanie Bridges.<\/p>\n

Fighting on the Regis Prograis-Devin Haney<\/a> undercard, Yoshida won by unanimous decision in San Francisco \u2013 99-91, 99-91, 97-93.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 'Blonde Bomber' had held the title after she defeated Maria Roman a year and a half ago<\/a> and entered Sunday's (AEDT) fight as the bona fide favourite.<\/p>\n

However, it was Yoshida who came out on top despite having only lost a fight against Shurretta Metcalf a little more than a month ago.<\/p>\n

It's a shock loss for Bridges who had been slated to fight Avril Mathie before Mathie pulled out due to an undisclosed injury.<\/p>\n

Yoshida accepted the fight on short notice but made the most of the opportunity, landing 122 punches to Bridges' meagre 66.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old single mother cried in the ring with her daughter as the reality of her success sunk in.<\/p>\n

"Absolutely gutted, it wasn't my night," wrote Bridges on social media.<\/p>\n
