Barely a day after announcing he was joining the platform<\/a>, Nick Kyrgios<\/a> has used his OnlyFans account to announce he will not play in the Australian Open<\/a> next month.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios was a notable absentee when the Australian Open released its main draw entry list earlier in the week, and he admitted in November the "stars have to align a little bit" for him to make a return to Melbourne Park.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old missed the 2023 Australian Open with a knee injury, and then tore a wrist ligament on his comeback in Mallorca ahead of Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He hasn't played since.<\/p>\n

"Hey guys, Nick Kyrgios here. [I have] obviously had a really tough year with injury, had that knee surgery and came back a little too soon, [which] set me back a little bit [and I have] had some wrist issues," Kyrgios said on OnlyFans.<\/p>\n

"So, this is a very disappointing time for me, but I won't be able to compete at the 2024 Australian Open.<\/p>\n

"Obviously, heartbreaking. I've had so many amazing memories there, and I just want to really get back to playing at the top of my game and doing it right, and I need a little more time."<\/p>\n

Kyrgios made it to the Wimbledon final in 2022 against Novak Djokovic, but has been plagued with injuries since \u2013 first the knee, and then the wrist.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios said he already had other roles lined up for the Australian Open, suggesting he had known for a while he wouldn't be playing.<\/p>\n

"I was so close to winning a grand slam \u2013 I want to make sure that my body is going to have the time it needs to come back, so please bear with me.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Even though I won't be there competing this year at the AO, I still will be around, commentating matches, being around \u2013 I've got some special things planned, so please be excited still.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"You know I'll be there and hopefully see all the fans. I'll see you there."<\/p>\n
