Stars<\/a> captain Glenn Maxwell<\/a> has been ruled out of Melbourne's next game against Perth after injuring his forearm during the side's 103-run drubbing to Brisbane in the BBL<\/a>'s season-opener on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Maxwell suffered the injury whilst batting at No.4. in what was his first innings since returning home from Australian duties in India \u2014 which included a record-breaking double century at the World Cup.<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old winced in pain and gestured to his right forearm after smashing a boundary off \ufeffHeat paceman Spencer Johnson.<\/p>\n

Having already bowled he was able to continue batting but called for the trainer twice before having his forearm heavily strapped.<\/p>\n

Maxwell finished with \ufeff23 runs from 14 balls after his reverse sweep was picked out by Matthew Kuhnemann.<\/p>\n

After undergoing scans in Melbourne on Friday, Maxwell was withdrawn from the Stars' squad for their next match on Wednesday, with the team stating he will start his rehabilitation immediately\ufeff.<\/p>\n

After hosting the Scorchers, the Stars have a \ufeffnine-day break before their next clash on December 23.<\/p>\n

The gap between matches will no doubt gift Maxwell more time to recover and will hopefully see him back in the \ufeffgreen uniform sooner rather than later.<\/p>\n

Right-arm quick Nathan Coulter-Nile will also undergo scans this weekend to learn the extent of a calf injury he picked up while bowling.<\/p>\n

Coulter-Nile has a long history of soft-tissue injuries, playing just seven games in an injury-riddled BBL12.<\/p>\n

"They are both soft tissue so we'll have to see how they scrub up," Stars coach Peter Moores said of the squad's injuries.<\/p>\n

"Hopefully both aren't too bad but we'll just have to wait and see."<\/p>\n

Heat international Colin Munro was left stranded on 99 not out after smashing nine four and five sixes.<\/p>\n
