Being fired NFL<\/a>-style is like nothing Arryn Siposs<\/a> has experienced before.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe former punter revealed how his sacking from the Philadelphia Eagles was very "business-like" which exemplified the cut throat nature of American sport.<\/p>\n

Siposs' time with the reigning NFC champions came to an end<\/a> after two seasons and two weeks into the new season, with the Eagles replacing the Melburnian after the team's win over Minnesota in September.<\/p>\n

Siposs was the punter for the Eagles for three seasons and played in their three-point Super Bowl defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in February, with his botched punt leading to the winning play of the game for the Chiefs.<\/p>\n

\"Arryn<\/p>\n

It wasn't the first time Siposs had been sacked in professional sports, with his time at AFL club St Kilda coming to an end in 2015, before going on to chase a spot in the NFL. But the way the AFL and NFL went about cutting ties, was completely different.<\/p>\n

"They're certainly not much of a conversation, obviously I've been through both unfortunately," he told SEN radio, a week after confirming he is returning home to work for Hawthorn.<\/p>\n

"From the AFL point of view, they try and work something out for you at a later stage, or you have a chat about things that you can work on and why (they) made the decision and that.<\/p>\n

"Whereas I go into the door for the GM (general manager) over at the Eagles and it's just basically 'all the best, we're going to move with somebody else and good luck'.<\/p>\n

"Probably one of the shortest meetings I've had in my entire life. And then the cleaning out of the locker process afterwards obviously never fun.<\/p>\n

\"Australia's<\/p>\n

"It's kind of very, very short and sharp and very, very much business-like for sure."<\/p>\n

Siposs said head coach Nick Sirianni did not speak to him during the meeting, rather sitting silently as general manager Howie Roseman delivered the difficult news.<\/p>\n

"(There's) no interaction with the coach, he will go in there and show his face and that's about it," he added.<\/p>\n

"It's the GM's work and they go in and tell you the moves that are being made, so that's how it goes."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Siposs played 32 NFL games for Philadelphia, after an impressive college career with Auburn University in 2018 and 2019.<\/p>\n

He joined Hawthorn's coaching staff last month, where he will work under Andy Collins.<\/p>\n

He was a chance of scoring a spot on the Arizona Cardinals roster in the aftermath of his release but Siposs\ufeff chose to return to Melbourne with his wife and daughter and start working towards a role back in the AFL.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
