Australian chairman of selectors George Bailey<\/a> has indicated Will Pucovski<\/a> won't be considered for selection in the short-term as the talented opener continues his comeback from concussion and mental health issues<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pucovski is thought to be a long-term option for Australia at the top of the order but is unlikely to replace David Warner when he retires after the Pakistan series.\ufeff<\/p>\n

However, the 25-year-old has been chopped and changed around the Victorian batting order, featuring at the top, No.3 and recently No.4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bailey confirmed there hasn't been any communication with the one-Test youngster but expressed his excitement at seeing him back in the arena.<\/p>\n

"No there hasn't (been communication)," he said.<\/p>\n

"(I'm) just really happy to see him back playing Shield cricket \ufeffand hopefully that continues."<\/p>\n

Speaking to 9news recently after Victoria's 23-run win over South Australia in the Sheffield Shield, Pucovski has stated his focus is on first class cricket but admitted the urge to play for Australia will never go away<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"I went over to England in the off-season, I'll probably look to do that again and just keep playing as much cricket as I can," he said.<\/p>\n

"Hopefully get a Shield season or two under my belt and then maybe worry about the Australian side.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Bailey stated he simply wants to see "continuity" in Pucovski's game after scoring 65 in the second innings against South Australia, his highest score for the season.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I saw Will's comments \ufeffpost this last Shield game, and on the back of it I think that's five in a row he's played now," he said.<\/p>\n

"Fingers crossed he can finish the year \ufeffoff. He's talking about there's a real love of the game at the moment and he's keen to go play overseas in the winter which will be great for his game.<\/p>\n
