A controversial moment in the Sheffield Shield<\/a> has led to Peter Handscomb<\/a> refusing to walk after he was caught in the slips by South Australia's Jake Lehmann.<\/p>\n

The fringe Test cricketer nicked off from the bowling of Brendan Doggett \ufeffwith Lehmann diving forward and claiming the catch.<\/p>\n

Handscomb, playing for Victoria<\/a>, then stood at the crease shaking his head and refusing to leave. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"He's just standing there looking \u2014 he can't believe it," commentator Julia Pitcher said.<\/p>\n

"He's just hung the bat out there to dry, Handscomb. There's something he's upset about."<\/p>\n

Former South Australian cricketer Tom Cooper said: "I don't think he thinks it's carried.<\/p>\n

"It was well bowled by Brendan Doggett, drew him into the shots, at first glance that's out.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

Handscomb then stood with Campbell Kellaway in the middle as Lehmann approach to plead his case.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I haven't seen anything like this happen in my life," Cooper added.<\/p>\n

Handscomb continued to \ufeffargue the ball didn't carry before umpire Nathan Johnstone approached Lehmann and then the batter.<\/p>\n

"The umpires need to take control here," Cooper said.<\/p>\n

Johnstone then appeared to suggest \ufeffsquare leg umpire Michael Graham-Smith had cleared the catch with Handscomb told to depart.<\/p>\n

"I think they've given him out," Cooper said.<\/p>\n
