A\ufeffdelaide Oval<\/a> has unveiled a major scoreboard change, with the word "batsmen" updated to "batting" in time for the Adelaide Strikers<\/a> Women's Big Bash<\/a> match against the Perth Scorchers<\/a> on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The change comes 112 years after the \ufeffscoreboard, which is heritage listed, was erected at the oval in 1911.<\/p>\n

The word 'batting' now aligns with update to the Laws of Cricket, which were amended in 2021 to the word "batters" instead of "batsmen".<\/p>\n

The scoreboard and the grass hill that it stands on, are some of the few parts of Adelaide Oval that remain from the original build in 1911\ufeff, after the renovations between 2011-2014.<\/p>\n

"The first cricket matches played with @TheAdelaideOval scoreboard reading 'batting' instead of 'batsmen'," the Strikers posted on social media on Friday night.<\/p>\n

As for the Strikers, they went on to record another win for Adelaide, defeating the Scorchers by five wickets with 31 balls remaining, to lock in top spot in the WBBL ladder ahead of the finals.<\/p>\n

Adelaide, who recorded 11 wins in the home-and-away season and are the reigning WBBL champions, will now face \ufeffeither the Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers or Sydney Thunder in the first week of finals.<\/p>\n
