Penrith Panthers<\/a> director Greg Alexander<\/a> has emphatically rejected any chance of Jarome Luai<\/a> being released early as the Tigers pursuit ramps up.<\/p>\n

\ufeffLuai has reportedly been offered $4.5 million over four years by the Tigers<\/a>, with one-year to run on his contract with the Panthers.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs are also believed to be interested in the five-eighth, with former Panthers Matt Burton<\/a>, Viliame Kikau, Stephen Crichton and Jaeman Salmon all in their squad.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest the Panthers have offered Luai a $1.7m two-year-contract but the money on offer from other clubs will be tough for the playmaker to turn down.<\/p>\n

If he was to sign elsewhere, Panthers legend Alexander was defiant on whether the club would release him a year early. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Forget it," he said on SEN.<\/p>\n

"Like forget it, it's not happening, we went through this with Matt Burton.<\/p>\n

"We had every man and his dog chipping in saying, 'It's not fair'.<\/p>\n

"Well, it is fair, he (Luai) has a contract with Penrith next year."<\/p>\n

Burton signed his deal with the Bulldogs at the end of 2020, with a year to run on his contract.<\/p>\n

Penrith were criticised for not letting go of the youngster early but Burton went on to win a premiership and the Dally M Centre of the Year award in 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
